You might not have ever heard of Masaru Emoto, but I’ll bet you have heard his “science” preached somewhere in Word of Faith/NAR circles, the New Age movement, TikTok, or even a Disney movie.
Masaru Emoto was a Japanese author and… “water researcher”… who got famous for claiming human words, thoughts, and emotions can physically affect water, therefore reality. His study is quoted in New Age and Word of Faith circles, and yes… probably even in your own church.
I personally remember oohing and ahhing over this study. So did my friend Steven Bancarz, who is a friend and ex New Ager. But ironically, the actual study itself doesn’t even hold to its own claims. Which is wild. The problem?
Most people don’t actually read the study or critically assess it. When I wanted to do my own deep dive into Emoto last year, through an interesting series of events, Steven got interested too, so we decided to team up. He did a LOT of research on this study, and he shares it all in the video.
Being knowledgeable on New Age and my wheelhouse being New Thought, we’re pretty much set up to show you exactly why Masaru Emoto’s teachings are garbage, and why prosperity preachers and New Agers need to stop using his “studies” to prop up their spiritual pseudoscience.
