About

The Edwin Rutsch Team is hosting a series of Empathy Cafes with interfaith leaders and community members on the topic: How might we bridge social, religious, and political divides in our communities? Come share ideas, insights and actions to bridge our differences. These Online Empathy Cafes are open to all faith-based (and no faith tradition) communities. Everyone is welcome to participate.

THE PROBLEM
===============

* Personal, social, religious and political conflict and polarization are tearing our families, communities and country apart.

* Diversity and differences can be constructive, unless we get in the habit of not listening to “the other side.”

BENEFITS FOR PARTICIPANTS
==========================

1). Learn constructive dialogue practices that your faith-based community can use for personal support, conflict resolution and community building.

2). Learn how faith communities and families can create sacred space to share whatever is alive for you (i.e, what is on your mind and heart.)

3). Share best practices in supporting families in your communities.

4). Share resources for interfaith contribution to civic cohesion, harmony and well being.

HOW

========

*1). We will use the Empathy Circle practice for the dialogues in small break out groups. An Empathy Circle is a structured listening process that effectively supports meaningful and constructive dialogue.

*2). We will document our discussions. They will be recorded and transcribed. *

*3). Participants will write up and refine notes in shared google docs for each dialogue and create documents to share with the wider world as we help create a culture of empathy.

I'm Edwin and am running for Congress in California Congressional District 8. Join me in this meeting to learn about this empathy campaign and how you can be a part of it. You can support and volunteer for this movement from anywhere in the world.

Social and political divisions are escalating and are tearing our families, communities and country apart. I am the founding director of the Center for Building a Culture of Empathy and leading a movement to bring our communities together.

Together we can bridge the divides with deep listening, mutual empathy, constructive dialogue, shared understanding and collaborative action.

We will learn and use the Empathy Circle practice, which is a core practice of our campaign. Learn how you can volunteer to transform our politics.

 The Sessions are recorded and posted to social media for educational and promotional purposes.
